Anfang April wird Prof. Guido Sonnemann (Universität von Bordeaux) als Short Term Fellow des Humboldt Centre zu Gast am Lehrstuhl für Ökologische Ressourcentechnologie sein.
Prof. Guido Sonnemann ist einer der erfolgreichsten Forscher zu Life Cycle Assessment in Frankreich. Er leitet die Forschungsgruppe CyVi am Instutite of Molecular Science der Université de Bordeaux. Bis 2012 war der Sustainable Innovation Programme Officer für Ressourceneffizienz am UNEP.

Life Cycle Assessment for Sustainable Chemistry: Methodological advances and applications
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) has become the widely recognized method to evaluate the carbon and other environmental footprints of materials and chemicals in product systems like batteries and vehicles. Life Cycle Assessment as a method has multiple shortcoming so that methodological advances are crucial. One important area of improvement is the assessment of natural resource use in LCA. New methods to evaluate the access to resources and their circularity will be presented. On the application side, the use of LCA has become in particular relevant for choices related to the energy transition and the decarbonization of the industry. Therefore, examples of LCA use for photovoltaics and raw materials used in Li-ion batteries will be shown.
